A 1am album

I couldn't sleep and knew there was a full moon out tonight (I like to keep track), so I took some photos. Some of them looked terrifically bad, and others actually came out in a pretty cool way. It's so interesting how different moonlight looks than sunlight, even at the same "brightness" over a scene. The moon is so much softer and more diffuse.

The tops of the trees are lit in a really interesting way. The wind also caused the smaller branches at the ends to slightly blur over the 60 second exposure.

The light from inside blends really well with the light on the outside -- it's really interesting to me how much color these have, because being outside at the time, everything was black and white.

This one might be my favorite one of the whole album. The way the moonlight casts that shadow on the second floor railing -- it's so perpendicular and straight and sharp. There's a really clear contrast between light and shadow.

I also took one photo of the big dipper, just 'cause. I think it came out pretty well, considering I didn't use a telescope.

There are a few more pictures from this gallery, as well as the other pictures that I've taken recently; you can find them on my flickr.
